Andrew Daren, PsyD
Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist
With over a decade of specializing in neuropsychology, I have honed my expertise in performing neuropsychological evaluations for young children in early childhood, children, adolescents, and young adults facing various developmental, learning, neurocognitive, and emotional challenges. My passion lies in working with children, teens, young adults, and their families, guiding them to understand their strengths and weaknesses and crafting personalized plans to help them achieve their full potential.
I value the neuropsychological assessment process for its ability to provide a comprehensive understanding of a child. This process allows me to learn about a child's strengths and potential, alongside areas that require remediation, support and intervention. I learn about a child in different settings, offering a complete picture of their capabilities and settings and situations where they thrive. My approach extends beyond traditional paper-and-pencil or computerized tests. I often observe the child in various contexts, review past medical and educational records, and engage in discussions with parents, teachers, therapists, and other service providers when possible. This comprehensive data collection, along with objective testing, enables me to make informed, evidence-based decisions and recommendations. Having worked with hundreds of individuals at all functioning levels and developmental stages, I have developed a deep understanding of the diverse experiences and abilities people possess. Building trust with each individual is crucial to optimizing the evaluation process.
I have received specialized training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOS-2) and take pride in my specialization in evaluating individuals for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and learning disabilities such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. My experience also includes assessing children with neurological conditions like epilepsy, concussion, and Non-Verbal Learning Disorder.
As a parent of a toddler, I empathize with the uncertainties parents face when discerning if a child's developmental skills or behavior are of concern and when to seek professional advice. My mission as a neuropsychologist is to provide comprehensive answers and plans to parents about their child's development and learning profiles. I aim to offer reassurance and clear guidance on steps to nurture and leverage their child's strengths.
